Stampin' Up! Manhattan Flower

I just got the new Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die to use with my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. It's so pretty! Don't you agree? I used a piece of copper paper from the Taste Of Textiles Specialty Paper pack. This paper is a little heavier weight than card stock. It's gorgeous!

In this sample I used the die on a piece of Pink Piroutte card stock as a background piece. The Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set coordinates with this die. I stamped using Pink Pirouette and Basic Gray ink. As an embellishment I used the Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon and mounted it all on a piece of Basic Gray card stock. I love how Stampin' Up! has coordinating products!

Just a reminder that there are only a few days left to Sale-A-Bration. For every $50 you order before ship and tax you get to choose a FREE Sale-A-Braion product! Click the link to the right to view the product. You can orders on my Stampin' Up! website or send me an email. Order must be received by March 30 to qualify.

Today's sample is a card that I made a few months back. I think I did this for a workshop make n' take. This is pretty enough to be framed! The stamp set I used is called Inspired by Nature. It was in the Fall-Winter catalog and is now on the Dorment list. The dorment list is a list of stamp sets that are still available but not shown in the catalog.

To acheive the effect, I colored directly on my stamp using Water Color Crayons, then misted lightly with water from a spray bottle and stamped the image on Water Color Paper. Every card comes out different when you do this technique. I love the softness of the look. When doing this technique, stamping on the Water Color Paper will give you the best outcome. The Water Color Paper Stampin' Up! sells is already cut to 3-3/4 x 5". Perfect for layering. If you are interested in any of these products, you can either visit my Stampin' Up! website and click the SHOP NOW button, or send me an email dflever@comcast.net

Here are the supplies used on this card:

Stamp Set - Inspired by Nature

Cardstock - Clost to Cocoa (card base), Eggplant Envy, Always Artichoke, Water Color Paper.

Ink - Eggplant Envy (verse)

Accessories - Water Color Crayons (eggplant, artichoke, close to cocoa), Jumbo Eyelet, Crop-a-dile to set the eyelet, Eggplant 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals.

Do you like to journal or sketch? We have these great art journals in the catalog that have chipboard covers that you can stamp on or cover with some of our beautiful designer papers. I wanted to make a scripture/prayer journal. I covered my book with a piece of designer paper from Bella Birds. I used the Spiral Punch on the edge to make holes to fit around the spiral of my journal. Did you know we have a punch that will do that?? I love Stampin' Up! As an embellishment, I used one of the frames from the vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware Kit and some colored brads. Did you know we have punches that fit most of the frames in those kits? This frame uses the Designer Label punch. I used the Tombo Multi Glue to hold the paper in the frame. The frame is then adhered to the front cover using Mini Glue Dots.

The journals are on page 183 in the Spring-Summer 2009 Catalog. They are called On Board Journals. They come in two sizes - 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 (the size I used) or 5x5. They have 50 sheets of unlined, acid - free paper. They would be great for putting pictures in and making a little scrapbook as well. Or how about a travel log for a trip you are on! There are many different ideas to use them for.
You can order everything you need to make a journal of your own from my Stampin' Up! website. Click the link on the right side to take you there.

April Class Project

Here it is! This is the project for my April classes. What do you think? Isn't it cute?! It's a garden tote card holder. The little pockets hold bookmarks and a pen or they could hold postage stamps or even a small chocolate bar!
The inside holds 4 cards and envelopes.

We will use the new Parisian Breeze specialty paper and the Friends 24-7 stamp set. Paper design will not necessarily be the same as the tote shown. This would be a great gift for Mother's Day, for a friends birthday or for yourself!

Easter Basket

Good Morning! Today's post features a simple little Easter Basket. I did this as a make n' take at one of my workshops recently and they loved it! Who can resist the cute little bunny face! That was made using Stampin' Up! punches. Add some paper grass and a few chocolates ( which I do not have in the basket because I don't need the chocolate laying around tempting me ) and you have a cute little Easter Basket for someone special. These are the punches you will need to make the Bunny.

Face - 1- 3/4" circle.
Ears - small and large oval.
Eyes - small oval cut in half and trimmed and 1/4" circle for the center. White gel pen was used to make highlights.
Cheeks and mouth - 1/2" circle.
Nose - heart to heart punch.
Put the eyes on first then assemble the cheeks, mouth and nose together and put a dimensional on the back and put in place on the face.

I will try and post a tutorial for the basket later today. It will be easier to show you step by step with pictures. It's very simple but hard to explain without showing you. I am off to the doctor right now with my son.

Basket Tutorial

It turned out to be a busy day so I could not get back to my blog to post the tutorial for the basket till now.

Take your 6x6 piece of cardstock and score at 2 and 4", turn and score 2 and 4". Your piece of cardstock should have squares all over it.

Cut along the score lines on one side and then the opposite side.

Your cardstock will look like this now.

Fold up the center square and fold the two outside squares over the center so it will look like this.

Adhere designer paper And add your 11" by 1" handle by punching a whole with the 1/16" hole punch and inserting a brad. Okay, I'm off to watch Dancing with the Stars! Have a good night.

New Classes

I have some new classes scheduled for March and May. I'm working on something for April and will let you know when I finish the project! You can check out the details of the other classes on my Stampin' Up! website, or by clicking the view Calendar link on the right. Here is a look at the project for the March classes. You will get to choose from a variety of designer papers that I have to decorate your mini scrapbook. It will not necessarily look like this one.

Here is a look at a section of the inside. These mini books are made from chipboard CD folders. The books will have pockets as well. Now I need to get my photo's in there!
