Valentine Treat

What do you get when you use designer paper, stamps, ribbon, ink and a candy bar?

You get a fun way to present a valentine treat!

Here is how you do it. It's very simple. First, wrap ribbon around candy bar of choice and leave enough length so that you can tie a bow on top.
Then wrap the designer paper around the candy bar and adhere making sure that you do not stick the paper to the candy bar. Then take the candy bar out and punch a hole at the top of the designer paper making sure you punch through both layers.

Thread the ribbon through the holes.

Place the candy bar back in pushing the ribbon down as you push the candy bar to the bottom of the wrap.

Once the candy is hidden, tie a bow at the top. To view the candy bar, pull up on the bow!

I hope that make sense! If it doesn't, email me : ) You can click on the images to view larger.
To finish it off I made a tag using the Sweet Stems stamp set which coordinates with the designer paper. The tag was punched using the large oval punch. Here are the ingredients used:

Stamps - Sweet Stems, Holidays and wishes (happy valentines day)
Paper - Raspberry Tart, Whisper White
Ink - Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories - Pretty in Pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, 1/8" hole punch, Large Oval punch.

Fifth Avenue Floral

Here is a card I made using the new stamp set, Fifth Avenue Floral. Don't you love that name! I also used the coordinating designer series paper, Urban Oasis. The color combo is Kraft, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Basic Black. They are spectacular together! I also used the new Eyelet Border punch - which I am loving. To make this card I first used the largest flower in the set and inked in Versamark and stamped a background on Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I stamped the flower using black StazOn ink on Confetti White cardstock. When water coloring, the confetti and watercolor papers are the best to use. I colored in using an Aqua-painter and also a Blender Pen where I wanted the color a bit darker. I love the look of this simple card. Here are all the ingredients.

Stamps - Fifth Avenue Floral

Paper - Urban Oasis 12x12 designer paper, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Gray, Confetti White.

Ink - Versamark, StazOn, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss.

This stamp set is part of the Manhattan Style Watch.

My Sample Table

As you come down the stairs to my stamp room, this is what you see. A table full of samples. The banner hanging in front says Inspire on it and I made it using the Pennant Die for the Bigshot. The banner was so fun to make! I made it using cardstock and designer paper but one can be made using material as well. That is a project on my list of to do projects. How fun will that be! These banners are great for birthday parties, anniversary's, home decor and more.

Simply Scrappin' Kits

I just love our Simply Scrappin' Kits found on pages 162-165 of the catalog. They are so versatile. Each pack comes with 12x12 textured cardstock and double sided designer paper and loads of self-adhesive die cuts. Not only can you make scrapbook pages with them like this 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 sample up top, but you can also make cards this this sample here.

The card size is 3x6 which you get by cutting the 12x12 in half and then in half again. The self-adhesive die cuts are perfect for embellishing your pages or cards. The kit that I used for these samples is called Sunshine Gardens. I love the color combo - So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze and Old Olive. If you click on the pictures, you will be able to see them bigger.

Bigshot Box

My favorite new paper Parisian Breeze (pg. 158 in the Spring-Summer Catalog) is sturdy enough to make boxes! I used the Box #2 Bigshot Die (pg. 194). This makes the perfect favor box for wedding's, birthday parties, showers, any occasion really! I stamped the bird from Friends 24-7 ( pg. 81) in Chocolate Chip ink and cut it out. I wrapped Kraft Taffeta ribbon (pg. 179) around the box then mounted the bird on the box using dimensionals. It's very sweet looking.

Friends 24-7

This stamp set lends itself to a collage type design and I love that! It's hard to see in this picture the detail but I used the Friendly Words jumbo wheel first all over the cardstock in So Saffron ink. Then I stamped the other images on top randomly. I then had the idea to add texture to the card by running it through the Bigshot machine on one of the Stampin' Up! background texturz plate! I wish you could see and feel what it did to the cardstock and the way the image looks. It's so beautiful! I love those texturz plates. The ribbon on the bookmark is from the new Valet Ribbon Originals.

Don't you love the name of this stamp set - Trendy Trees. It is another one of my favorite new sets. Isn't it cute? It has a coordinating wheel as well called Funky forest. Gotta love those names! In the second sample I did use one of the new Stampin' Up! Texturz plates but it doesn't show very well here. The chocolate chip piece of cardstock has dots on it. It really creates a nice effect. I love those texturz plates and in the sample for tomorrow, I'll tell you what I discovered!

New Catalog Samples

I had a lot of fun yesterday making samples using new product from the catalog. Many of you ask me how I come up with ideas. I have lots of resources as a demonstrator but one way that I use that you can use right now too is the new Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalog. I opened it up yesterday for inspiration. There are so many fabulous ideas in there! One card I copied exactly and I used other designs as an idea and made my own design. What a great resource. Enjoy today's samples. I won't post all that I made today so be sure to check back.

Enjoy your day!

This sample was copied right out of the catalog. I LOVE this new stamp set and the Parisian Breeze Specialty paper. Oh my goodness. When I opened the pack it took my breath away. I'm a paper nut so yes, it took my breath away! It's gorgeous and it took me a while to have the courage to cut it! The specialty papers are heavier weight than the other dsp's and are textured. The color's in this pack are so soft and pretty. I need more!

I stamped the flower using black StazOn ink and colored in using the blender pen and aqua-painter. Remember when water coloring to squeeze the ink pad before opening. When you open it, use the ink that has collected on the inside cover. It's a perfect pallet.

I'm Blogging!

I have finally taken the plunge and created a blog. I am excited and a little apprehensive at the same time. I am not really computer savvy so it's taken me some time to figure things out and I haven't figured it all out yet but I'm giving it a go. My goal is to post often - dare I say every day? That is a big goal but I'd like to keep updated with ideas and samples to help inspire your own creativity. Please be patient as I learn how to do this blogging thing!
